Songs in the Music place and videos in the gallery start playing before the whole file has downloaded.
Your browser downloads the file piece by piece from Walrus and decrypts each piece before it plays, so the server never sees the file. The Music place has a bar with play, pause, previous and next. Formats your browser cannot play piece by piece, such as FLAC and WAV, download in full first and then play. If a file cannot be played at all, NMTS says so and you can download it to open it in another app.
In the share window you can save a handover file for one recipient and pass it on yourself, by message, email or USB stick; no share is registered on the server.
Only the recipient's NMTS key opens it: they choose Open handover file on the Received shares screen, and the file downloads from Walrus. If you pick the recipient's public code file instead of typing their public code, NMTS does not learn whom it is for. A handover cannot be taken back: the recipient can download the file until its storage ends or its stored copy is deleted. In the CLI: nmts handover make and nmts handover open.
In Settings, under Account and key, My public code file saves your public code to a file.
Someone who has the file can hand you files without looking your code up on NMTS.
Support has a topic for storage the daily check could not find; a question sent under it, and our answer, are kept 12 months, as long as the record of the loss.
Changed3
The share window says that when you share there, NMTS knows whom you shared with.
Terms of Service 2026-09-26-v18 and Privacy Policy 2026-09-26-v20 replace the previous versions.
The notices list what changed. You accept the new versions on the acceptance screen before your next upload or share.
Buttons on the home page and the site pages have the same 12 px corners as the app, and the full license texts use the body font.
Fixed6
On phones, number fields open the number keyboard, and small buttons are at least 44 px tall.
The tip percentage also accepts a comma as the decimal mark (0,5). On touch screens a button no longer stays highlighted after you tap it.
On the Stats page, the refresh button no longer shows a ten-digit number of seconds just after the page opens.
On narrow phones with large text, a figure now moves under its name instead of squeezing the name into a column a few letters wide.
When you delete, the confirmation window closes before the rows disappear.
The home page's background follows a theme change at once, and the free-trial button in the sidebar fits on one line.
On phones in English, the fourth bottom tab read Developer ...; it reads Docs.
The developer's answer on the home page said backups are locked for 90 days; they are locked for the first 7.
