1A recovery list file now says which version of the standalone recovery program can open it.
The file already recorded which format it was written in, which is what a program needs and not what you need. If the file is newer than the copy of the program you kept, the old copy stops rather than guessing — and until now all it could say was that the list was newer than itself, leaving you to work out what to fetch. The file now also carries the lowest program version that reads it and the program repeats it back with the address to get it from, while an ordinary list still names the very first published version, because every published build reads one. This does not rescue a copy that is already too old: the program is always published before a new form is switched on, precisely so there is something to fetch.
