Changed

1
  • The account-creation screen now says what a copied account code costs.

The account screen has always put a confirmation in front of the same copy, listing what a clipboard costs: other programs can read it, clipboard-history programs write it to disk, and phones sync it to your other devices. The creation screen said nothing — and the person reading that screen is the one who knows least about it. The facts are now printed under the button, and after a successful copy the line also says how to take it back off. There is no confirmation box here on purpose: the copy button exists because dragging 32 characters with a finger was the hardest moment on this screen, and a box would put that back.

Security

1
  • Error messages about a file no longer put the file's name into anything written to your device.

The rule in NMTS is that a plaintext file name leaves your device only when you choose to send it, and the one place that can happen is the inquiry form, where you see and pick what goes. Three paths did not go through the part that enforces that: seven of the sentences produced when building your recovery list fails, the error text pre-filled into the inquiry form when a screen crashes, and the drive notices themselves. Nothing was leaking today — no reachable crash carried a name, and only one notice names a file — but the name now travels in a field of its own while the sentence carries an identifier, so the screen shows you the name and what gets written down does not. A crash message is also cut at 1,000 characters, and the pre-filled draft is dropped whenever you open the inquiry screen and is never offered once it is 10 minutes old.
