  • The remaining storage time is now shown down to the second, and it counts down.

A day count answers whether to care yet; on the last day it does not answer whether there is time to deal with it tonight, because “1 day left” covers everything from twenty-four hours to one minute. A file row's details and the file panel carry the countdown; the warning at the top of the drive adds it only under a day, where the day count stops being an answer. It is not drawn when the network has not said when the current period began, since the number is a lower bound then and seconds under a lower bound are precision we do not have. The clock stops while the tab is out of sight.

  • The storage period said “N days at the earliest” on nearly every file. It now says how many days, and the estimate is out by minutes rather than by up to a fortnight.

The storage network reports when the current period began, and it reports it in two of the three states it can be in. This build read only one of them, so on the main network the moment was thrown away almost always — and without it all that is certain is that the file outlives at least one period less than it holds, which on the main network is fourteen days of slack. The screen showed the safe end of that range, which is why it said “at the earliest”. It still says so while the network is changing periods, because then nothing has told us when this one started.
