A stranger can no longer take the record of an extension you paid for.

Extending a file’s storage is signed by your wallet, and the record we keep of it was filed under the transaction’s number alone. A transaction number is public on the chain the moment it lands, so somebody watching could send your number to us first against a file of their own — and your real request would come back saying the extension was already recorded, while the end date we show you never moved. The record is now filed under your account and the number, so a stranger’s row cannot stand in for yours. Two accounts naming one transaction are both recorded and flagged for us to check against the chain, because refusing the second would hand the same person a way to block a real extension instead.
