NMTS has a command-line tool, and its source is public.

The tool runs on your own machine, so your account code stays there: it derives keys and opens your file list where you are, exactly as the browser does. Today it signs in, says which account a code belongs to, and lists what is stored — uploads and downloads are not built, and listing needs a key the account screen does not offer yet. The source is at github.com/needmoretruth/nmts-cli, under the same licence as the recovery tool.
